Astell & Kern’s Layla AION feature 12 drivers per side.
Astell & Kern have announced their latest incarnation of Layla. The South Korean company has again paired with industry heavyweight and renowned IEM manufacturer, JH Audio to craft one of their best earphones yet.
The Layla AION is hand made in Orlando, Florida. It is comprised of a milled carbon fibre body which houses 12 balanced armature drivers. The configuration uses 4x bass, 4x mid and 4x treble drive units to achieve an incredibly linear response, capable of great dynamic clarity.
3D SLA Printing
Layla AION use a resin based 3D printing technology to reduce the size of the internal sonic chambers. Despite having 3 40mm effective length chambers per earpiece, the Layla AION is incredibly compact.
7 Pin, silver plated cable
Layla AION utilises a litz wire cable for strength, audio performance as well as looking stunning. The 7 pin connector ensures a quality connection, while mitigating wear issues that other connector styles encounter.
Protection!
Of course, all of this needs to be housed effectively. Layla AION’s outer casing is made from a layered carbon fibre, resin embedded shell which is then CNC routed. This provides excellent strength and rigidity while remaining incredibly lightweight. Furthermore, Layla AION is packaged in a beautiful carbon fibre carry case, following the same design language.
