AudioQuest Releases the DragonFly Cobalt
The Cobalt – AudioQuest’s newest DragonFly
AudioQuest has released the Cobalt, the latest iteration in their famous DragonFly series. Like the DragonFly Black and DragonFly Red, it features a 24bit / 96kHz resolution. It borrows the ESS Sabre 9601 Amp from the Red and keeps it’s impressive 2.1 volt output, but an upgraded microchip reportedly reduces current draw and increases the processing power. This reduced power consumption is a boon to mobile users, and to further reinforce the mobile friendly attitude, the Cobalt is set to come with a DragonTail USB-C adapter.
Feature Highlights:
New, more advanced ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chip with a minimum-phase slow roll-off filter for more natural sound.
Microchip’s superb PIC32MX274 microprocessor draws less current and increases processing speed by 33%.
Improved power-supply filtering that specifically increases immunity to WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular noise.
Includes a form-fitting DragonTail female USB-A to male USB-C Adaptor.
MQA Capable
Given the current exchange rates, the Cobalt will likely be $499
