Shanling Audio EM5 Streaming Centre

On top of a gorgeous deep black body with a gold plated volume wheel, the EM5 can serve as a DAC, streamer and amplifier

Sonic Perfection

Shanling started in 1988 as a traditional Hi-Fi company – designing and manufacturing machines for home hi-fi and stereo speakers – but in the last few years, with their players, earphones and Bluetooth products they’ve been focusing more on the portable market. Deciding to change this in 2021, they went back to their roots of high quality home audio.

To achieve the ideal sound performance in such a complicated device, Shanling have decided to split the power supply between two sections. Analog components are powered by a small and highly efficient toroidal transformer, in combination with high-performing German capacitors, helping to achieve cleaner and smoother sound. The digital section is powered by a switching power supply, with a specially designed voltage stabilising circuit, helping to keep unwanted noise and interference at minimum.

To provide you with their typical smooth and natural sound, Shanling have picked a classic AKM AK4493EQ DAC chip for the EM5. Combined with a high quality power supply, hi-res playback capabilities and their 33 years of design experience you can expect true high fidelity sound.

Running a carefully customised Android OS, Em5 serves as a standalone music music system. No need for a complicated setup, just direct access to your music collection and streaming services. Shanling’s Eddict app (available for Android and iOS) allows you to take a complete control over the EM5 from your smartphone or tablet. It offers a complete display mirroring, giving you access to all features of the EM5 from comfort of your chair.

The EM5 has a deep black body combining glass and aluminum, a gold plated volume wheel for the touch of luxury, a 4.7-inch touch screen for easy control over your music and a circuit diagram for enthusiasts.
