Yamaha MusicCast Setup

Setting Up a MusicCast Device on iOS.

Yamaha’s MusicCast is Yamaha’s native app based control solution and allows multi room control over a range of devices from Yamaha. From Home Theatre amplifiers to Bluetooth speakers, from Stereo Amps to Turntables, Yamaha’s MusicCast has something for everyone. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices, and is very straightforward and easy to to use. It does a great job of walking you through doing the setup of your new network device, though the process is slightly different between iOS and Android.

I always recommend using a cabled network connection where at all possible. It’s the fastest, most reliable, and most robust connection method, and should be used anywhere you can. However, all of the MusicCast devices feature WiFi Capabilities.

Android

If you are using an Android device, the easiest way to get everything set up on WiFi is to follow the on screen instructions. You will be guided through powering up the device, connecting to the temporary network, entering the correct credentials for your network, and the restart process is automated.

The iOS Process

If you are using an iOS device, there is a built in feature on your device that can make the process even easier. On the menu of the MusicCast device, go into the Network Setup (Setup > Network), Select WiFi, then select ‘Share Settings’. Once this has been selected, in your Wifi Settings in the iOS Device, at the bottom of the page there will be a section labeled ‘Set Up New Airplay Speaker’. In this section, your MusicCast device should appear. Once you select the device, you will be prompted to name it, and select which network you would like to set it up on. Double check the settings, and select ‘Next’.

After that you should be able to go into the MusicCast App, and when you follow the on screen instructions, after pressing the ‘Connect’ button on the MusicCast Device when prompted, you should have the option to name the device and select a picture for the area.

That’s it!
